DAY 2: WALKING CITY TOUR IN MADRID
A first tour of the city by sightseeing bus and walking tour in Plaza de España and Gran Via.
A great way to get a first overview of the city. The Gran Vía is a street in central Madrid: it leads from Calle de Alcalá to Plaza de España. The street, sometimes referred to as the “Spanish Broadway”, is one of the city’s most important shopping areas, with a large number of hotels and large movie theatres. -
DAY 3: OLD MADRID
Today the focus of the visit is the Old Madrid: Mercado de San Miguel, Plaza Mayor, Calle Mayor, Puerta del Sol, and the Palacio Real. Visit to Museo del Prado and walking tour with your tour leader in Calle de Toledo and Cattedrale di San Isidro.
The Royal Palace of Madrid and the buildings and monuments of the Paseo del Prado (Salón del Prado and Alcalá Gate) deserve special mention. They were constructed in a sober Baroque international style, often mistaken for neoclassical, by the Bourbon kings. -
DAY 4: BOURBON MADRID
Walking tour from Calle de Alcalà to Plaza de Cibeles.
Calle de Alcalá is also one of the oldest streets in the city. It was the old road which led to the city of Alcalá de Henares (from which it takes the name) and continued to Aragón; today, this route is covered by the A-2 motorway.
The fountain of Cibeles is found in the part of Madrid commonly called the Paseo de Recoletos. This fountain, named after Cybele (or Ceres), Roman goddess of nature, is seen as one of Madrid’s most important symbols.
In the afternoon you should visit Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, mainly dedicated to Spanish art, or visit to Parque del Buen Retiro, the largest park of the city of Madrid. -
DAY 5: HALF DAY TRIP TO ESCORIAL
Half day trip for visit Escorial Palace. Transfer via private motorcoach.
Tour of El Escorial: a historical residence of the king of Spain, in the town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, about 45 kilometres (28 miles) northwest of Madrid. It is one of the Spanish royal sites and functions as a monastery, royal palace, museum, and school.
Return in Madrid in the afternoon, free time or walking tour with our tour leader.
Enjoy a Flamenco dancing night in Madrid’s legendary tablao or other similar location! -
DAY 6: TRANSFER TO BARCELONA AND STOP IN ZARAGOZA
OPTION 1: Transfer to Barcelona via private motorcoach and stop in Zaragoza, ancient city founded by the Roman emperor Caesar Augustus: a special stop along the way for its unique mix of architectural styles, heritage of the different cultures and peoples that have succeeded here: Romans, Muslims, Jews and Christians.
Continue to your hotel in Barcelona.
OPTION 2: Transfer to Barcellona via fast train non-stop and continue to your hotel in Barcelona. -
DAY 7: BARCELONA AND GAUDÌ
A walking city tour will point out all the major highlights of Barcelona. Starting from Plaça de Catalunya, seek out some breakfast in one of Europe’s best-stocked and most colourful produce market – La Boquerìa, Plaça Reial,
Afternoon visit to Parc Güell, a privatized park system composed of gardens and architectural elements, designed By Antoni Gaudí, a renowned architect and the face of Catalan modernism. -
DAY 8: GOTHIC BARCELONA
In the morning visit the Sagrada Familia, the Antoni Gaudi’s masterpiece, on wich he worked for 43 years. It’s a slender structure where every thing is devoted to geometric perfection and sacred symbolism. It’s also a work-in-progress spaning the generations but never losing Gaudi’s modernity, originality architectural synthesis of natural forms.
You’ll spend many happy Barcelona hours getting lost in the Barri Gòtic, Barcelona’s oldest quarter. There are landmark public buildings, including the cathedral, and some lovely squares to provide breathing space, but what the Gothic Quarter is all abouts is meandering with neither plan nor pace. Strolling among Las Ramblas, the picturesque street, continuously animated by numerous kiosks and its sellers of newspapers, flowers and souvenirs. The narrow old streets around the cathedral are traffic-free and dotted with occasionally very talented buskers. -
DAY 9: MUSEU PICASSO AND BARCELONETA
Visit Museu Picasso. Pablo Picasso spent a decade in Barcelona before he decamped to Paris, and the Museu Picasso is a fitting tribute to his connection with the city: you’ll enjoy this priceless insight into one of the towering figures of 20th-century art.
Enjoy the last day in Barcelona strolling among Barceloneta beach. -
