Asilah
Asilah is a charming coastal town south of Tangier, known for its white-washed walls, colorful murals, and relaxed atmosphere. Originally a Phoenician settlement, later fortified by the Portuguese, the town reflects centuries of cultural exchange along Morocco’s Atlantic coast. Its small Medina, enclosed by well-preserved ramparts, is one of the cleanest and most picturesque in Morocco. Strolling through its narrow streets, you can admire the vibrant street art for which Asilah is famous, alongside traditional houses with blue and white façades. The town also features historic landmarks such as the Portuguese towers and gates, reminders of its colonial past, and the El-Kamra Tower, a symbol of Asilah’s heritage. The seaside promenade and nearby beaches add to the town’s appeal, offering a tranquil contrast to larger Moroccan cities.
Asilah has also become a cultural hub thanks to its annual International Cultural Festival, which attracts artists, musicians, and writers from around the world. For groups, Asilah provides a unique opportunity to explore Moroccan history, art, and intercultural creativity in a peaceful and inspiring setting.
